Privacy Policy

BowlSense ("we", "our", "us") operates the BowlSense mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you sign in via Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address to create your account. We store this information securely using Supabase authentication.

Bowling Data: We collect game scores, frame-by-frame results, pin leave patterns, and throw statistics that you enter through the app. This data is stored in your account to provide scoring history and analytics.

Motion Data (Watch): If you use the Apple Watch companion app, we collect accelerometer and gyroscope data during bowling sessions to analyze wrist motion, swing tempo, and release metrics. This data is processed locally on your device and synced to your account.

Apple Health Data: The Watch app may create workout sessions via HealthKit. We only write workout data to HealthKit; we do not read or access any other Health data.

Camera Data: The Speed Check feature uses your camera to record video of bowling throws for speed and rev rate analysis. Videos are processed on-device. You choose whether to save videos to your photo library.

User Preferences: We store your bowling preferences (dominant hand, home bowling alley) and data sharing preference.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide bowling scoring, analytics, and performance tracking
• To sync your data across devices (phone and watch)
• To display your game history and statistics
• To process subscription purchases through Apple

3. Anonymous Community Data

If you opt in to data sharing during onboarding, anonymized throw statistics (speed, rev rate, entry angle) may be contributed to aggregate community analytics. This data cannot be traced back to your account. You can change this preference at any time in Settings.

4. Third-Party Services

• Supabase: Cloud database and authentication. Data is stored securely with row-level security policies ensuring you can only access your own data.
• RevenueCat: Subscription management. RevenueCat processes purchase data from Apple to manage your subscription status.
• Apple: Sign-in authentication and in-app purchase processing.
• Sentry: Crash reporting to help us identify and fix app issues. Crash reports may include device type and app state but do not include personal bowling data.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Supabase with row-level security policies that ensure only you can access your own data. All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption. Local data on your device is stored using secure storage APIs provided by iOS.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data will be removed from our servers within 30 days.

7. Your Rights

• Access your data at any time through the app
• Export your data via the Lab screen (JSON export)
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Opt out of anonymous community data sharing

8. Children's Privacy

BowlSense does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by updating the effective date above.
